Broom - slow progress.

It's the holidays, i'm lazy. Hence slow progress.

Who am I kidding, the holiday season isn't to blame here!

Anyway, here's a nice minor update to the Imp concept from my last post:

Merry Christmas everyone! x

VERY early Broom concept.

So I've started to rough out some ideas for how I would like Broom (my Doom parody game) to look.

Remember this guy?

Well here's my take on him, and generally the style I'm going to go after for the pro/antagonists.

Some renders.

Well all the work I did in college is only able to be opened in college due to fudgy files. :(

So, I've had to restart the model of the 1954 Jaguar Coupe. This is the car from Whitnail & I ("I'm making time!").

Here's some early days renders:

Good with the bad.

So, it seems that 3DS Max has a problem saving my college work. Pretty much everything that I save in class won't open at home.

This blows, especially as I have homework to do over the Christmas holidays. The models are looking good though, promise!

On the flipside, I've come up with a nice wee idea to use for our Game Design Project. Basically, the brief is to come up with an idea (using given prerequisites) for a game and then create all the artwork for it.

So, here's how the idea goes:

Basically, the game is a parody of the hit 90's game Doom. It follows the trials of a janitor stationed on the same mars base as Doom's space marine on a separate story arc. The game will be in a style quite different to Doom but will revisit familiar places/enemies whilst having a tongue in cheek attitude towards the original game.

Oh yeah, it's called Broom.

Going down the route of parody allows me to be as silly and creative as I like, whilst having a solid world/story to base my ideas off of.

I'm looking forward to it. You should too.

Beginnings.

Hello.

My name is William Mincher. Got that?

For the past two months I've been enrolled in a 3D Animation course at Dundee College in the hopes of producing some excellent folio work, and even fully fledged animations.

So far things are going well. I've gotten to grips with 3D Studio Max fairly quickly and am working away on our projects.

Pretty soon, I'll put pictures of my progress up for all of you to see.

Stay tuned, and out of trouble!
